Hi to all. A little about me. . .
I am married to a wonderful woman with a wonderful name one that always fills me with a sense of endearment when I say it – kinda like how saying “Jesus” should be, perhaps. I can use my wife’s name and Jesus’ in the same sentence because she loves Jesus even more than she loves me. She is a master organizer – she runs Time Flies Planners, a custom date book and organizer company (www.timefliesplanners.com).
I currently work for Honeywell (www.honeywell.com) as a Project Manager and Engineer. I also help lead a brand-new church plant in Las Cruces, NM called Crossroads Church (www.crossroadsplace.org). I’ve been an elder and a pastor for nearly 14 years, and am greatly interested in the “emerging church” and church planting as a means of expanding the influence of The Church in the world.
The past few years have found me a little restless with regard to The Church. I see wonderful things happening at churches in town, but see other things happening as well, both encouraging and discouraging. I know it isn’t because of the hearts of the pastors or leaders of these churches – I think it has a lot to do with the changing hearts of people in general. God is calling me (and Crossroads Church) to play a significant role in developing a concept of church that will be effective in the pursuit of God’s name to be made famous here on earth – to be made known to the hearts of His creation. The church WILL adapt to be God’s light in this age, but it is not going to be according to any known formula or model for “church growth.” This is the essence of what thechurchblog is about.
“He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”
- Ecclesiastes 3:11 (NIV)
