The Southwestern New Mexico Chapter of the American Red Cross honored Crossroads Church today by inducting us into the “Clara Barton Society.”
Earlier this month, the local Red Cross chapter in Las Cruces announced that they were going to close due to lack of funds. This would leave our community (and most of the Southern portion of our State) without a local Red Cross chapter for the first time in, well…, a long time. They expressed an immediate need to raise $10,000 which Crossroads Church was able to respond to and meet.
We were very pleased to be able to give such a large gift, and on such short notice. We’re now beginning to see one of our primary goals for planting Crossroads Church being played out. That is, to form a church with very low administrative “overhead” so that the largest possible portion of our giving is available for ministry. We don’t have a building (or plan to), we don’t have a paid staff, we don’t have utility bills — what we do have is a willing group of Christians who are doing something terrific for our Lord and our city.
Crossroads Church exists for the purpose of bringing Christ and His Church to individuals and families in our city who might not otherwise seek a “traditional†Christian church. We do this in order to develop sincere community, both for the encouragement of our own faith, and also for the effective conveyance of the Gospel to the lost and seeking.
That is who Crossroads is. And what we do is seek to make a difference in the lives of people to whom God has connected us. May God bless the American Red Cross and the families and individuals who benefit from their service to our community.
